What is an EPC?
An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) shows how energy efficient your property is. It gives your property a rating from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient) and includes recommendations for improving the energy efficiency.
When do you need an EPC?
You need an EPC when you build, sell or rent a property. An EPC is valid for 10 years. If your property doesn't have a valid EPC, you'll need to get one before marketing the property.
How to improve your EPC rating
Improving your property's energy efficiency can increase its value, reduce energy bills, and make it more attractive to potential buyers or tenants. Common improvements include loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, double glazing, and upgrading your heating system.
